Secure Email Access with Thunderbird

Email access if provided strictly through encrypted services, including POP3S and SMTPS. You can use any popular email client for access, including commercial products like Microsoft Outlook or free software like Mozilla Thunderbird.  The following instructions show example shows configuration of Thunderbird, which can be downloaded here:

Once installed, the following information can be used to setup the account. To add an account in Thunderbird if your not automatically taken to the following screen, select Tools  and then Account Settings from the main menu.

Fill in your name and email address. Please note the drop down for the Outgoing Mail Server. If you will be using this client for multiple email accounts, be sure to come back to this screen and change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) selection to the mail.vaultecommerce.com server after it is created in our last step. Failure to use the mail.vaultecommerce.com server for outgoing email may cause messages to go out without encryption and propper security through another services mail server.

Enter the Vault ECommerce mail server address of mail.vaultecommerce.com

Enter your complete email address for your username

Select SSL for Use secure connection.

Do not select Use secure authentication.

 

Select the Outgoing Server (SMTP) option.

Then in the right hand pain, select the Add button to configure a new SMTP server.

In the SMTP Server screen, enter the Server Name: mail.vaultecommerce.com.

Use the default port of 25.

Check the box for Use name and password and enter your complete email address for your username

Select TLS for the Use secure connection option.
